Netflix Japan has announced that they are producing a live-action film adaptation of the City Hunter manga. Ryouhei Suzuki will play the role of Ryou Saeba, Yuuichi Sato will direct the film, Tatsuro Mishima will write the script, and Yoshihide Outomo will compose the music.

Netflix Japan mentions that the work has already been adapted to live-action in Hong Kong, South Korea and France. For this opportunity, they aim to create a unique live-action adaptation for Japan. The story will take place in present-day Shinjuku, taking advantage of filming in the real Shinjuku and not in a studio, while also expressing the unique Japanese nuances that appear in the original manga. Along with this, Ryou will not wear the classic jacket from the anime version, but instead will wear the long jacket from the original manga (although the style will be changed to a jacket with a bow).
